Every business has a story and ours has been building for over 20 years.
Mortgage Select began with Gareth, alongside a small team of advisors and admin support. He had a simple aim, to provide clear, straightforward advice and genuinely support clients through what can often feel like a complicated process.
After years in the industry, Gareth saw first-hand how confusing the process could be for clients, often leaving people unsure of their options, overwhelmed by jargon, or feeling like just another case being pushed through.
From the very beginning, we wanted to do things differently, keeping advice simple, personal and focused on the people we’re helping.
How we’ve grown
What started as a small team has gradually evolved into something much bigger. Over the years, we’ve welcomed more advisors, expanded our support team, and built strong relationships across the South West, particularly within the new build market, where we now have a significant presence.
As the business has grown, so has the leadership team. Felicity became a director in 2017, bringing with her a wealth of experience and a strong focus on looking after clients, while helping to shape how the business has grown over the years.
Sam became a director in 2025, after being part of the business for over nine years. It was a natural step as the team grew, with her experience playing a key role in supporting both our clients and the wider team.
Together, we’ve helped shape Mortgage Select into what it is today. We’re now a team of 16, made up of mortgage advisors, insurance advisors, and dedicated support staff, all working together to give clients the best possible experience.

We’re proud to be new build specialists, with a strong presence across the South West. We work closely with developers and understand the timelines and pressures that come with new build purchases.

A bit about us day-to-day
Our office is busy, but it’s also relaxed and friendly. There’s usually tea or coffee on the go, plenty of conversations happening and a real team atmosphere behind everything we do. We’re big on getting everyone together too, whether that’s Christmas celebrations, charity walks, cricket matches, or just taking the time to step away from the day to day and enjoy it as a team.
And of course, no introduction would be complete without mentioning our Chief Wellbeing Officer, Jeffrey, a spaniel who plays an important role in keeping spirits high around the office.
Where we are now
We’re incredibly proud of the business we’ve built. Over the years, we’ve navigated plenty of challenges, from changes in the Bank of England base rate (both high and low), to the financial crash, Brexit, government changes and COVID. Through it all, we’ve continued to adapt, support our clients and grow as a team. That resilience is something we’re really proud of and a big part of what Mortgage Select is today.
We’re an award-winning team and our recent rebrand reflects how far we’ve come, a business that’s grown over time, but stayed true to what matters: being warm, approachable and focused on the people we’re helping.
